PORTLAND, Ore. – Christian Carrido proudly removes a field cap with a Capt. rank insignia and places a new field cap with a Maj. rank insignia on his father’s head during a promotion ceremony July 28, 2011, at the Portland Battalion Headquarters.
Maj. Roden Carrido was promoted from Capt. to Maj. and battalion personnel along with Carrido’s wife, Angelina; daughter, Megan, 6; and son Christian, 10, joined the celebration.
Being promoted to Maj. is a big step in Carrido’s Army career. He is an Army Officer-leader continuing the work as the S1 Adjutant at the battalion and assuming additional duties as the Officer in Charge of Recruiting Operations at the Portland Battalion. He enlisted in the Army in 1994 and became an officer in 2001. Officers like Carrido will make decisions that affect daily operations and he will see that the work of the Portland Battalion is completed to the highest standards.
