MISSION: The
U.S. Army Accessions Support
Brigade provides tactical,
operational, and strategic support to the Accessions Force by maximizing leads
and good Army impressions through exhibits,
competitions, instruction,
demonstrations,
and research & development in order to increase public
awareness
and support for the United States Army and help
sustain the All Volunteer Force. |
| HISTORY:
The
Accessions Support Brigade
was initially formed as the US Army Recruiting Command Area Support
Group (Provisional), 1 Oct 1997.
The mission was to provide a single
headquarters for
the intermediate command and control of small units providing
logistical, operational, and production support to recruiting. The
brigade was comprised of the US Army Recruiting Support Battalion,
which dispatches its fleet of 18-wheelers around the country telling
the Army Story; the Logistics Support Center (LSC), which oversees
recruiting support logistics; the US Army Parachute Team,
“The
Golden Knights,” performing free-fall aerial demonstrations;
the
Special Operations Recruiting Company (SORC), responsible for
recruiting Special Ops soldiers in the
Army.
Effective 1 October 2002, the US Army
Recruiting
Support Brigade was officially re-designated the US Army Accessions
Support Brigade (ASB). This re-designation came as a part of the
overall standup of the US Army Accessions Command, headquartered at
Fort Monroe, VA. SORC and the LSC stayed assigned to USAREC. The
re-designation also meant a history making mission increase for the
ASB, from one traditionally focused solely on supporting recruiters, to
now include support for Cadet Command and the Army Training
Center at Fort Jackson, SC.
