Second Recruiting Brigade conducted a governance forum Jan. 7-8 to discuss recruiting operations problems and solutions.
Topics of discussion included Leader Development Strategies, Engaging in the Public Space, and Setting Conditions in the GSA Market. School plans were designed to foster dialogue among attendees.
"The value of dialogue is more important in this organization than any other organization that I've ever been involved with," said Col. Patrick Michaelis, 2nd Brigade commander. "We have to be in constant dialogue and course correction and to do that you have to have the right key leaders driving the process."
Lessons learned and TTPs from U.S. Army Recruiting Command headquarters were applied to the brigade and lower levels.
"Within the Army and our organization we are always trying to create a learning organization," said Command Sgt. Maj. Ernest Sanchez, 2nd Brigade CSM. "When you start talking about your values and your vision you set your standard. These standards are drivers to our learning organization."
Michaelis said, even with an annual mission, the brigade must keep an eye on future trends and the governance forum provided a great opportunity to achieve that.
"We want to focus on the fundamentals of recruiting and look at things not just in the short term but in the short and long term," he said. "There are a lot of things that we do now that help set the conditions for the next FY."
