Three Army Medical Recruiting Brigade members earned the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge on Fort Knox, Kentucky, April 8-9.
Deerfield, Illinois Medical Center Leader Sgt. 1st Class Jonathan Betten earned a gold. Officers-in-charge Cpt. Eileen Babon, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Medical Center and Cpt. Victoria Salas, Indianapolis Medical Center, each earned a silver.
The competition consisted of running a ten-meter sprint 11 times, a 1,000 meter run, a flexed arm hang, NBC MOPP testing, a road march, a marksmanship competition, and a one hundred meter swim in uniform, which had to be removed during the swim.
Scores were based on the completion time of the event, age, and gender.
The competition was conducted by Fort Knox with representatives from the German Army overseeing the event. The GAFPB can be awarded to any allied Soldier of any rank and is approved for wear on the U.S. Army Service Uniform.
