FORT KNOX, Ky. - April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and this year's Department of the Army theme is "Children thrive in safe, stable, nurturing homes."
According to DA, there are three key things families can do to ensure their home is a safe, stable and nurturing environment for their children:
Step Up: Keep kids safe and supervised. Engage and pay attention to prevent accidents.
Speak Up: If you see abuse or neglect, report it to law enforcement or the proper agencies. Everyone has a role to play in protecting children.
Reach Out: It's okay to ask for support. Recognize when you're struggling and get help.
U.S. Army Recruiting Command has seven Family Advocacy Program staff members dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and intimate partner abuse. One is located at each brigade headquarters and at USAREC headquarters.
Family Advocacy Program coordinators provide prevention training, tools and resources for the command's Soldiers and families.
