5th Medical Recruiting Battalion
Headquartered at Fort Sam Houston, Texas the 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion is responsible for recruiting the highest quality applicants to man the Army's Medical Department on active duty and in the Army Reserve. The 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion is one of five AMEDD Recruiting Battalions assigned throughout the United States Army Recruiting Command whose responsibility is to fill the needs of the six corps of the Army Medical Department for the Office of the Surgeon General and the Office of the Chief of the Army Reserve
The 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion's area of operation includes ten states, encompassing over seven hundred fifty thousand square miles throughout the Central Plains Region of the United States. The 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion consists of three medical recruiting companies; The San Antonio Medical Recruiting Company located in San Antonio, Texas; The Kansas City Medical Recruiting Company located in Overland Park, Kansas; and the Houston Medical Recruiting Company located in Houston, Texas. The medical recruiting companies are comprised of both commissioned and noncommissioned Officers responsible for recruiting and processing qualified health care professionals for the Regular Army and the Army Reserve.
Lieutenant Colonel Michael T. Peacock is the 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion's Commander and Sergeant Major Jesse Castellano is the 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion's Command Sergeant Major.
